What We Can Help With
We provide highly specialist speech and language therapy to adults with a range of speech, language and swallowing difficulties. We work from a fully equipped clinic room with parking and a waiting area.
We have experience of working with the following client groups:
Acquired Brain Injury e.g Stroke
Traumatic Brain Injury
Parkinson’s Disease including Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Corticobasal degeneration and Multiple Systems Atrophy
Motor Neurone Disease
Dementia including Primary Progressive Aphasia
We also have experience of working with augmentative and alternative communication such as communication aids.
One of our clinical specialisms is delivering conversation therapy to clients and their family members using video feedback to enable them to have better conversations. Excellent outcomes are achieved using this approach. This was developed whilst working on the Better Conversations with Aphasia project at University College London; please see the link below for more information on this therapeutic approach.

What happens when you make an enquiry
When an enquiry is made to Coastal Speech Therapy we will offer a free of charge phone call to discuss your speech, language and/or swallowing needs and to provide information about our service. If you choose to book an initial assessment following this, we offer weekday and evening appointments at our clinic in Whiteley.
At the initial assessment we will take a case history to gain background information on your current communication and/or swallowing needs, followed by a more formal assessment of your needs. We will then offer you further advice and, if appropriate will recommend a course of therapy. If required we will also write a short report based on information taken at the assessment.
If therapy is appropriate, we will suggest the most appropriate frequency of visits for you, but if this does not suit you then please let us know.
Therapy sessions are approximately 60 minutes long unless we agree in advance a longer session is required. The session fee also includes time for the speech and language therapist to complete paperwork and prepare relevant materials.
Goals will be identified throughout therapy and we will monitor progress to ensure they are achieved. Once no further goals have been identified then you will be discharged.
