Urology
Mr Richard Lockyer BSc MBBS FRCS (Urol) MD is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Southampton University Hospitals Trust.
Richard qualified at The Royal London Hospital in 1993 and undertook basic surgical training in London and Essex. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998 before moving to Bristol to undertake a research thesis into superficial bladder cancer. He then completed 6 years of specialist urological training in Wessex including a visit to The Cleveland clinic. He was appointed Consultant at Southampton in 2008 and his main interests are urological cancers, laparoscopy and general urology.
Richard is happy to see patients with any urological problems. There are a large spectrum of symptoms and diseases in Urology. If, following initial assessment and/or investigations, Richard feels there is a more appropriate expert for your symptoms or diagnosis, then he will be happy to refer you on to an expert colleague.
He runs private outpatient clinics at the Spire Southampton, LBhealthcare in Whiteley, Fareham and the Wessex Nuffield. He is able to offer surgery at either the Spire or Nuffield Hospitals.
