Podiatry

A Podiatrist or Chiropodist is a skilled, trained and educated clinician with the ability to assess, diagnose and treat problems of the foot and associated structures.

Hill Head Podiatry runs regular clinics at LBhealthcare, providing a range of services including:

  • Routine chiropody including nail cutting
  • Removal of corns and callus
  • Treatment of dry skin conditions
  • Treatment of fungal infections of skin and nails
  • Verrucae treatment
  • Ingrowing toenail treatment
  • Nail surgery under local anaesthetic
  • Musculoskeletal/biomechanical assessment (alone or in combination with orthotic prescription)
  • Custom and ‘off the shelf’ orthotics, following musculoskeletal assessment

The custom made orthotics package offered by Hill Head Podiatry, is aimed at alleviating painful symptoms in the feet, legs, knees, hips, ankles and lower back. This package includes the following elements:

  • Musculoskeletal examination
  • Gait analysis
  • Footwear assessment
  • Casting of the feet
  • Custom orthotic prescription
  • Orthotic fitting and follow-up

The surgical nail procedure may involve either partial or total removal of the nail, under local anaesthetic. Treatment may benefit toenails which are ingrowing, infected, deformed, painful or thickened. The treatment package is inclusive of the following:

  • Medical assessment
  • Surgical procedure under local anaesthetic and dressing
  • Three re-dressing appointments
  • Provison of dressings for self redressing during usual 4-8 week healing period

Eleanor Joyce BSc MChS

Elly graduated from the University of Southampton with a First Class Honours Degree in Podiatry in 2015. She received The Dean’s List Award for outstanding academic achievement in both 2014 and 2015.

During the degree course, Elly completed the accredited 1000 clinical hours in a variety of NHS clinical settings, including nail surgery, biomechanics, at risk foot and wound care clinics, as well as rheumatology and routine chiropody clinics. Working in Private Practice has consolidated these skills.

Elly has competed in various triathlons, as well as the individual discipline endurance events involving cycling, swimming and running and is a keen open water swimmer. In 2009, the running club awarded her ‘Performance of the Year’ for competing in Iron Man France and raising money for charity. She has an interest in lower limb injuries, rehabilitation and in the maintenance of mobility.

Being qualified in Prescription Only Medicines, Elly is able to advise and provide treatment on a range of foot conditions. Elly is also qualified in the use of Local Anaesthetic to carry out Surgical Nail procedures.

Dr Dan Roiz de Sa MB BS MSc FFSEM(UK) MRCEM DipIMC RCS(Ed) DipSEM (GB&I)

Dan is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician with an interest in extreme environments and endurance sport. Having qualified in 1995 he left NHS practice over 10 years ago after spending 7 of those years in emergency medicine. He has honorary academic positions at two universities teaching sports and exercise medicine and sports science and has over a decade of experience of working within a multidisciplinary musculoskeletal injury assessment clinic. He has worked with many elite athletes and those with disabilities.

Dan supports and provides advice to Elly at Hill Head Podiatry with difficult cases or those requiring medical input for treatment.
