Arthritis Hydro Group

Exercising in water has a number of health benefits. This is due to the fact that in water your joints can be exercised whilst they are fully supported.

Hydrotherapy is particularly beneficial to individuals who suffer with joint problems such as arthritis because the exercise takes place in a warm water pool heated to 93 degrees Fahrenheit (34 degrees Celsius).

LBhealthcare currently runs two Arthritis Group sessions a week.

What are the benefits?

  • The warm water allows your body to relax and move more freely
  • Your muscles become more flexible and the pain in your joints is eased, making it easier to exercise
  • The water resistance means you can also improve your muscle strength in a safe and effective way
  • Exercising in a group environment makes sessions more enjoyable and adds a social aspect.

When are the classes?

  • Tuesdays 2pm
  • Wednesday 12.30pm

Classes cost £6 per session, and are done on a pay-as-you-go basis. All attendees must however book prior to attending a session. Individuals must also fill out a medical questionnaire.

Who else may benefit from hydrotherapy?

  • People who have had joint replacement surgery
  • Individuals with back pain
  • Individuals with ankylosing spondylitis
