LBhealthcare adopts Rainbow Centre as its charity
LBhealthcare has adopted the Rainbow Centre in Fareham as its charity. We were major sponsors of the concert on Saturday 17th May held in Sarisbury Green. The concert featured performances by Derek Paravicini, a pianist blind since birth and suffering from severe learning difficulties. He plays entirely by ear and has a repertoire of many thousands of pieces that he has memorised - jazz, pop and light classical - and he is a great improviser. www.derekparavicini.net
In 17 years the Rainbow Centre www.rainbowcentre.org has helped over 400 children learn to overcome the problems caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy and other types of motor impairment by using a special system of learning known as Conductive Education. The children and their families consistently achieve a better quality of life as a result. They don’t receive money from central government, so their challenge is to continually fundraise to be able to run the services at the Centre. It’s an ongoing cycle and one that relies on the time given by volunteers, the generosity of the public, the huge effort by fundraisers and the community at large.
Therapy Manager Claire Tanner said:
“Given all of the good work done for children with cerebral palsy by the Rainbow Centre LBhealthcare is delighted to be supporting them. It costs a great deal to provide the care these children needed and we are pleased to be doing our bit to help.”
The concert raised over £13,000 to boost the coffers of the Centre.
